Parts to install it: cam bolts to match your cam gear (1-bolt or 3-bolt); 7.400 in. pushrods (hardened; 7.400 in. is stock length, so measure first); timing cover gaskets (the front cover comes off to change the cam); timing chain (replace it on a high-mileage engine or with a big cam); valve springs (.600 in. lift) — stock springs aren't made for this cam. More: LS cam swap guide.

Slightly noticeable idle with no real lope. Runs on .625 in beehive springs or the OEM 19420455 spring.

Tuning checklist
  • Tune: Aftermarket cams need idle, fuel, spark and torque-model changes.
  • Converter (automatics): Stock converter up to a 2500 rpm stall is fine
