Parts to install it: cam bolts (3-bolt); 7.400 in. pushrods (hardened; 7.400 in. is stock length, so measure first); timing cover gaskets (the front cover comes off to change the cam); timing chain (replace it on a high-mileage engine or with a big cam); valve springs (.600 in. lift) — stock springs aren't made for this cam. More: LS cam swap guide.
Daily-drivable with a lopey idle. A drop-in beehive spring kit rated to .600 in lift works with the factory retainers and locks.
- Tune: Aftermarket cams need idle, fuel, spark and torque-model changes.
- Converter (automatics): 2800+ rpm stall suggested on a 4.8L
- Cam gear: Three bolt
Installing it? Follow our LS cam swap guide (Gen III and Gen IV, any chassis), with every torque spec you need. In a 1998–2002 Camaro or Firebird, the F-body cam and valve spring swap goes bolt by bolt.
