What wiring harness and computer options make the most sense for a 6.0 LQ4 LS swap if I don't want to learn tuning myself?
Here is what the documentation says. Each point links to its source; details depend on your exact computer, harness and transmission.
Harness and power
- 0411 PCM (GM service #9354896 or 12200411); 1999-2007 Vortec DBC (LM4/LM7/LQ4/LQ9/L33/L59); T56 or non-electronic automatic: PSI HAR-1019 fits 1999-2007 Vortec DBC with T56 or non-electronic auto. (PSI Conversion)
- Gen III DBW: blue/green P59 PCM; Gen III DBC: red/blue 0411 PCM; 1999-2007 Vortec; 4L60E/4L80E: BP Automotive: DBW uses blue/green P59, DBC uses red/blue 0411. (BP Automotive)
- Howell standalone harness: Howell standalone harness: Bosch relays, fuse block, OBDII port, built-in CEL. (LSX Magazine)
Computer and tune
- 1999-2000 LS1 PCM; LS1; 1999-2000: The 1999-2000 LS1 PCM carries service code 09354896. Its connectors look like the 1997-98 units but the body is smaller and the pinouts are vastly different, so plugging a 1999 PCM into an older harness can damage the PCM. Motortrend states the 1999 unit carried over unchanged into 2000. (GM High-Tech Performance / MotorTrend)
- Sources differ: LSX Magazine's ECU guide states 2000 ECUs need 'some re-wiring' to retrofit, contradicting Motortrend's claim that 1999 carried over unchanged into 2000 under the same service code.
- P59 1MB; LS1, LS6, LR4, LM7, LQ4, LQ9; 2003-2007: The 2003-2007 1-megabyte Gen III PCMs are identified externally by a green connector replacing the earlier blue connector; service codes include 12576106, 12586243, 12586242, 12583560, 12583561, and 12589463. These units are interchangeable with a complete re-flash of the appropriate operating system and are considered the optimal choice for LS transplants. (GM High-Tech Performance / MotorTrend)
- P01 512K, P59 1MB; 1999-2007: 512K-memory Gen III PCMs use blue and red connectors while the later 1-megabyte PCMs use red and green connectors, a quick visual way to tell the two memory sizes apart. (LSX Magazine)
- E40, E38, E67: LSX Magazine's ECU guide notes the E40/E67 both have three connectors with different pin counts, the E67 has a wider capability range than the E38 (chosen for VVT vehicles), and EFILive's site carries an application listing matching each donor vehicle to its ECU — useful when buying a take-out engine without its controller.
