ZF 8HP70 swap behind an LS
The ZF 8HP70 is an 8-speed automatic rated about 700–750 Nm from the factory (the 8HP70/75 family), and it's often run well above that with good torque management (HPA). To put one behind an LS:
- Choose the controller (TCU) first: support varies by 8HP generation and by donor manufacturer (BMW, Ram and others).
- Get the right adapter for your exact 8HP: cases differ by donor. Kits exist for Ram/Hemi-pattern 8HPs (e.g., LOJ Conversions) and BMW-pattern 8HPs (e.g., PMC Motorsport); even two BMW 8HP70s can need different adapters.
