What is the correct 700R4 TV cable bracket geometry?
Here is what the documentation says. Each point links to its source; details depend on your exact computer, harness and transmission.
- The TCI generic TV-cable geometry document (covering 700R4, 4L60 and 200-4R) states the cable-pin center should be approximately 1 3/32 inches from the throttle-shaft center. (LS1Tech)
- TCI specifies that at idle about 33% of the TV lever travel should be behind the throttle-shaft centerline and about 67% ahead at WOT, which works out to roughly 1/2 inch rearward at idle and 1 inch forward at WOT. (LS1Tech)
- Per TCI, correct TV geometry raises line pressure quickly off idle and more slowly at heavy throttle; a more uniform cable pull can leave pressure too low at light throttle. (LS1Tech)
- TCI lists the TV-cable button as Edelbrock part 8018 (or a junkyard GM button) and geometry-correction kits as Holley 20-121 and Edelbrock 8026. (LS1Tech)
- TCI requires the throttle-shaft-to-cable-end distance to be 1 7/64 to 1 1/8 inches, with the cable end traveling a 78-degree arc from closed throttle to WOT. (Corvetteforum)
- TCI's adjustment procedure sets the adjuster mounting point at the measured WOT cable-stop distance plus 3/16 inch. (Corvetteforum)
- The same TCI instruction sheet secures the transmission-end cable sheath with a 10 mm bolt and lists bracket 376700 for Quadrajet/Carter AFB/Edelbrock Performer carbs; it also labels the Holley bracket as part 376800, which collides with the 376800 universal TV cable number used elsewhere in the same document, so the bracket number is flagged as a suspected typo. (Corvetteforum)

- Bowler's Tru-Shift self-adjusting TV kit installs by bolting on the bracket, cam and cable and then running the throttle to WOT so the cable self-adjusts; no carb removal, pan drop or pressure gauge is required, and Bowler says it eliminates the number-one cause of premature 700R4 failure. (Bowler Transmissions)
- Bowler's Tru-Shift page states every kit includes GM round-hole, GM square-hole and Lokar throttle-cable brackets, and lists explicit incompatibilities: Quadrajet/Rochester/original-style one- or two-barrels, FiTech LS Fuel Injection intakes, and Holley Sniper 2.0/Dual setups.
