LS computer identifier
Which GM computer do you have? Enter the service number, OS ID, connectors or donor vehicle. You get the family, its years, reluctor, throttle and transmission control, and what it means for your swap.
Enter anything you can see. One clue is often enough.
How to read the label
The service number is printed on the label on the computer's case. Gen IV controllers (E40, E38, E67) are also stamped between the cooling fins and on the label. A Gen V E92 has a sticker on the back with "E92" at the top center.
The OS ID is in the file once you read the computer with HP Tuners (reading needs no credits). We match it against the 239 operating systems in the tunes we've read ourselves.
Crank sensor color is a hint, not proof. Black usually means 24x and gray 58x, but colors don't reliably identify the reluctor. A 24x sensor runs on 12 V and a 58x sensor on 5 V. The computer and the engine's reluctor have to match; a 58x engine can run a 24x computer only with the wheel changed or a converter box (24x to 58x has no box).
