Can I run a turbo LS on the stock ECU tune?
No.
- Boost before enrichment: LSX Magazine points out that a turbo can make boost at part throttle and low rpm, before normal rpm-based power enrichment kicks in. Without boost fueling calibrated, that's how engines get hurt.
- Timing: pull timing wherever the engine may see boost, then add it back on the dyno.
- Load sensing: early computers lose resolution when the MAF is scaled for boost, which is one reason to convert to speed density with a custom operating system. The MAP sensor must match that operating system.
- Fuel: stock injectors and pumps run out around 380–450 hp depending on the engine (Summit).
