How much torque management is safe to remove on a stock 4L60E?

There's no published safe percentage — it depends on power, weight and use. What we do know:

• GM rates the 4L60E at 360 lb-ft of torque (US Shift).
• Torque management limits how much engine torque reaches the transmission, especially during shifts, to protect it (HP Tuners).
• Tuners reduce shift torque reduction rather than delete it. Gears Magazine gives the example of a torque factor lowered from 1.0 to 0.7 on GM 6-speeds, and notes that lower reduction means more torque through the clutches. That raises the risk of slip and heat on stock internals.
• HP Tuners warns that changing or disabling these tables can shorten transmission life or damage it.
