What is the reliable way to get a stubborn Gen 3 to fail the MAF and stay running for SD tuning?
The documented method, per LSX Magazine and PCM of NC:
- Set the MAF fail frequency to 0 Hz so the computer always sees a failed MAF. On HP Tuners, a 0 or 1 in the MAF frequency fail-high diagnostic is the tell that a car is set up this way.
- Reconfigure P0101/P0102/P0103 so the failure doesn't set a code.
- Give it a VE table it can run on. LSX Magazine notes a custom operating system's initial VE values are set to a maximum to guard against lean damage, which stops the engine from starting until baseline VE values are transferred in. Without a usable VE table the engine won't run on speed density.
