Which ECM is recommended for an LS swap?
Match the controller to the engine's generation first.
- Gen III (24x crank): the 12200411 ("0411") is the recommended service number for cable-throttle swaps, because its hardware and availability are known (LSX Magazine). Any 0411 can run a swap with the right tune; no donor application is better (GM Truck Central). 0411s from 1999–2003 Corvettes came set up for drive-by-wire only and need reprogramming for a cable throttle.
- Gen IV (58x crank): the E38 (two connectors) or E67 (three connectors). The E67 has wider capability and came on the supercharged LS9 and LSA, which makes it attractive for boosted swaps. A Gen IV engine can't run on a Gen III controller without converting the reluctor and adapting the cam sensor and throttle hardware.
- Crate engines: Chevrolet Performance's Connect & Cruise / E-Rod kits come as a matched controller, pedal, sensor and harness set.
