Can a 4.8 PCM run a 5.3, or what PCM changes are needed between the two engines?
The hardware can; the calibration has to change. GM Truck Central's point about the 0411 is that no donor application is inherently better — any 0411 can run a swap once it's flashed with the right tune.
What the tune has to match to the engine: injector flow rate, volumetric efficiency, spark advance, axle ratio, and whether EGR, EVAP and secondary air are present. Between a 4.8 and a 5.3, that means the engine-specific fuel and spark data, not a different computer. See the swap tune checklist.
