What software options exist for tuning an LS engine?
HP Academy's rundown, plus EFILive:
- HP Tuners (reflash): the most common. User-friendly, broad vehicle support. Downsides: cost adds up across multiple vehicles, and live tuning isn't available on every computer. For Gen III LS it covers the P01 (1999–2002) and P59 (2003–2007) computers.
- EFILive (reflash): a FlashScan V3 was $625 for scanning, logging and reading; the GM tuning option was $450 more (prices as listed 2026-09-29).
- LSDroid + TunerPro (reflash): free and open-source, but you buy the cable hardware, it's less user-friendly, and support is community only. P01/P59 only.
- PCM Hammer + TunerPro (reflash): free, actively developed and works with more interfaces, but no support and a steep learning curve. Aimed at older LS computers.
- Standalone computers (Holley, Haltech, Link, MoTeC and others): full control and extra features, but they cost the most, can be harder to install, and you tune from scratch without factory data.
